Kayla had not played piano before Humboldt Keyboarders came to her school. She performed at her graduation, after 10 classes.
Humboldt Keyboarders is available to teach music classes during the school day as well as after school. Our in-school music classes have been very successful – the students love having Mr. Cody’s fun and energetic teaching style as part of their school day.
Here is a great article about the benefits of music education. Studies show that there is a link between learning music and developing spatial-temporal abilities, that it makes the brain work harder (a good thing!), that learning music can increase intelligence and there are many other benefits. It isn’t that learning music makes someone smarter. It is the discipline it takes to take instruction and practice, taking pride in what they are learning, performing and being a good audience—these are values we take seriously at Humboldt Keyboarders
